Global Partnership
with Whatcom Community College

Western Washington University and Whatcom Community College are pleased to offer a Global Partnership to serve the interests of international students who earn their transferable associate degree at Whatcom and wish to earn their bachelor's degree at Western.

This partnership guarantees admission to Western Washington University to all international students who complete an Associate in Arts and Sciences degree at Whatcom Community College, have a 3.0 or higher cumulative transfer GPA, demonstrate English proficiency*, and submit a personal statement with their Application for Admissions that will serve as a writing sample.

Western Washington University will enroll students under the Global Partnership agreement beginning Fall Quarter 2008. As part of this partnership, the Office of Admissions at Western Washington University will provide pre-enrollment advising for interested international students studying at Whatcom community College. Students may contact Jeanne Gaffney at Jeanne.Gaffney@wwu.edu or 360.650.3966 with questions or to schedule an individual advising appointment.

To be eligible for admission, students must apply and submit all required materials by the application deadline. Admission to Western does not guarantee admission to a particular major nor assure enrollment in specific courses. While many academic programs are open to all interested students, others are selective and require completion of prerequisite coursework and/or elevated GPA standards. Comprehensive information about majors and concentrations can be found in the Academic Planning section of this website.

* Students who have not taken the TOEFL or whose TOEFL score is lower than the minimum requirement may be admitted with an Academic English Program provision if they have earned B (3.0) or better grades in two English composition courses.
