Why Western
From the beginning I knew I was going to stay in Washington for college. Western seemed like the best fit for me given its smaller class sizes, easy-to-navigate campus and appealing setting. Also, I wanted to experience a smaller business school in order to learn at a more intimate level with professors.
A Life-Changing Journey
I couldn't really ask for more out of a four year university. I've learned from brilliant professors, made lasting professional connections, and have been given the tools necessary to find success in the future.
Influential Mentor
Professor Henson from the Economics department has been critical to my development as a student and business professional at Western. He was one of the first to take a moment to recognized those who do well in his class, and since then has given me guidance that I value greatly.
The Value of Hard Work
Being noticed for my academic achievements has been the most outstanding experience at Western. It's nice to know that someone is always watching and taking notice of those who work hard. For instance, six students are selected from the College of Business and Economics to join the dean, associate dean, faculty and local executives for a business lunch to discuss leadership. I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation, and am certainly grateful that my superiors recognize my dedication.
Connecting with Business Leaders
The Leadership Luncheon was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to sit down with faculty and other professionals in a non-academic setting and see what actually happens in the real world. This was truly an eye-opening experience, as I saw the material I had been given in the classroom being used in everyday language. Overall, it made me confident and excited to work even harder in the business department and prepare myself for a life outside a university setting.
The Beginning of a Great Adventure
Move-in day will always be one of my fondest memories at Western. It was the most incredible feeling to move into the dorms and embark on an entirely new adventure. It's impossible to describe the feeling, but it truly was amazing.
Life in Bellingham
I love Bellingham's access to outdoor activities. There's a little bit of everything here: lakes, a mountain, trails, plenty of restaurants, and a quaint downtown.
Next Step
After graduation I plan to attend Western Washington University for one more year to earn a Master's in Business Administration. I just can't seem to get enough of Western.
