Why Western?
I initially chose Western because of the awesome teacher education program. I also loved the campus and its atmosphere.
Paying it Forward
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little kid. I love seeing the light bulb light up when students are able to comprehend a concept or an idea. I also had amazing teachers as I was growing up; they encouraged me and cared for me. I want to make a positive influence on at least one student's life. Maybe it is a way for me to show my appreciation for what I received from my teachers.
Open Doors
Coming to Western, becoming a Special Educator was my only focus. I tried to get involved in as many programs as I could at Woodring College of Education. I got to meet a lot of professors and staff, and these connections have definitely been helpful to me. All the staff and professors in Woodring are amazing. They always have their doors open and are willing to talk to me.
High Expectations
Education is taken seriously at Western. Many of my professors have high expectations for me to excel. To perform well in their classes, I have needed to study for what seems like endless amounts of hours. However, Western provides many helpful resources to help me excel in my studies. For example, the Writing Center has always helped me. I really appreciate that my professors give me an extra push. Although it is hard and sometimes stressful, it motivates me to study harder and to learn more in my classes.

A Passion for Diversity
I love cultures! I definitely try to get involved in many diverse settings on campus. Currently, I am involved with Woodring's DIVE (Diversity Inspiring Volunteering Educators) club and MEChA. I am also a conversation partner for the international students in the Intensive English Program and a community partner for the Asia University America Program. I love getting to know different cultures and sharing my own culture.
Room with a View
I live in a bayside view dormitory, and every morning I am amazed by the view. I also love the community in Bellingham. The community is very friendly and supportive of Western and college students. One of my favorite things to do is to walk down to Boulevard Park and go to Old Fairhaven to buy a gelato.
