Why Western?

I visited campus and fell in love with the atmosphere. Touring the amazing Communication Facility, which was brand new at the time, also helped the decision.

Exceeding Expectations

Western's Journalism Department is outstanding. I never thought I would get so much writing and “real world” experience.

Outstanding Professor

Shearlean Duke has been an influential mentor for me. From my first quarter at Western to my soon-to-be last quarter, she has always put her faith in me and has helped me to improve both my public relations and writing skills.

Hands-on Experience

All the publication staffs have been amazing experiences. My quarter as features editor on the Western Front particularly stands out because I spent countless hours in the newsroom editing and laying out pages, but have never had so much fun or gained so much experience before.

Never a Dull Moment

Klipsun Magazine

I am always, always busy. I enjoy sports and outdoor activities such as intramural volleyball, softball and hiking. I'm also learning the guitar and I love trying to cook a good meal. For school activities, I'm president of Public Relations Organization, I do PR for the Organ Donation Awareness Club and I'm currently managing editor of Klipsun Magazine. I also work in the Elementary Education Department during the week and for CBS Radio on weekends.

Life in Bellingham

I love that there's always somewhere to be or something to discover. I always enjoy walks with friends or studying at Boulevard Park with a good cup of coffee. When it's sunny I like running around Lake Padden or going on photography trips to Larrabee State Park. I love that there's no excuse to be bored.

After Western

I plan to start a career in public relations in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
