community
Connecting students to each other, the campus, and the greater community are priorities at Western. From a comprehensive orientation program to multiple student support services-from group projects in the classroom to unlimited opportunities for involvement in the community-Western recognizes the value of inclusion.
- Over 70% of Western students participate in an intramural or club sport, including basketball, soccer, waterskiing, ice hockey, judo, rugby, sailing, and more. A new student recreation center, including an indoor track, climbing wall, swimming pool, and extensive workout facilities, just opened.
- Last year Western students volunteered over a million hours of their time to various organizations and events within the Bellingham community.
- Approximately 150 clubs and student organizations provide great opportunities to meet people, develop skills, and just have fun. Clubs center around cultural, political, special interest, social issue, departmental/professional, service, religious, and recreational pursuits.
- More than 90% of new freshmen and 3,900 students in all choose to live on campus.
