Coming from a multi-racial family from North Seattle, I was looking for a university that had a strong and empowering community — a community that would not only care about my future, but would challenge me to grow spiritually, mentally and physically.
I was fortunate to be accepted into Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, a truly unique and supportive campus community and one of seven colleges at Western. Outside of the classroom, I had the opportunity to serve in leadership roles that allowed me to connect with others who share my passions, and to affect change on campus. As the Associated Students’ Vice-President for Activities, I collaborated and advised students in The Club Activities Office. In this role I also co-produced the “Walk of Hope,” one of the first major suicide awareness events on campus. As a theatre scholar, I was the Artistic Director for Fairhaven Theatre Company and was a member for the national award winning improv troupe The Dead Parrot Society.
I graduated Western in 2013 with a B.A in Theatre Arts with concentrations in Theatre Management, Education and Theatre for Social Change. I still keep in touch with my Western professional and personal connections, both of which have led to job opportunities and individual advancement in my field of interest, including to this one, as your Admissions Counselor. I am so very excited for you! I know picking a college can be rather challenging and at times intimidating. Take a deep breath. I'm here to help!
