Fall freshman applicant timeline
The timeline below is for fall quarter applicants, please note the timeline and deadlines are different if you are applying for a different quarter. We recommend you contact your Admissions Counselor if you have specific questions about applying for another quarter.
Early September: Fall Application for Admission and Scholarships goes live!
The Freshman Application for Admission and Scholarships becomes available after Labor Day in early September. Before submitting your application, please review our application instructions. We encourage students to apply for admission early in the fall and not wait until the deadline.
In the fall and early winter students should:
- Take the SAT or ACT and have scores sent to Western
- Request to have high school transcripts sent
- Plan to visit campus
- Contact our helpful Admissions Counselors with questions
November 1: Early Action Deadline
Why wait? Students who complete their admission application by November 1 will be considered for Early Action, which guarantees an Admissions response by December 31 as well as expedited scholarship review and financial aid notification. Students admitted to Western via Early Action will still have until the May 1 National College Decision Day to confirm their intent to enroll. Financial aid files must be complete before final awards can be processed.
November – April: Notification of Admission Decisions
Students receive notification of admission decisions and scholarships between November and April. Don't worry if you don't hear from us right away; nearly half of our students receive their application decision and/or scholarship letter after the application deadline. The majority of on-time applicants will receive admission notification by early April.
January 31: Regular Decision Deadline & Priority Scholarship Deadline
Last day to submit your application to Western before it’s marked late!
On-time applicants get full consideration for Western's merit scholarships. Recipients of merit scholarships are generally notified by mid-April.
January 31: Financial Aid Priority Deadline
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beginning October 1 at fafsa.gov. You must file your FAFSA by January 31 (Western's priority filing date) to be considered for the most favorable financial aid. Financial aid award notification begins in December for admitted Early Action students and continues through mid-April. Western's Federal School Code is 003802. If you are a non-citizen eligible for resident tuition under HB 1079, please submit the WASFA to apply for student financial aid.
Mid-March: Financial Aid Award Notification Begins
Financial aid award notification begins if you submitted the FAFSA by the priority deadline. More on Financial Aid is available here.
