Majors

Psychology
Most of the major issues facing the people of the world today - hunger, overpopulation, the continuing threat of war, prejudice, pollution, drug addiction - are people problems; people have created them, and it will be people who must and will find solutions to them.
Environmental Studies
Do you want to use your knowledge and skills to promote positive change in the environment? Do you want to understand the interactions and interdependencies between human and natural systems? Then Environmental Studies is the major for you.
Biology
Biologists study living organisms to understand the natural world and find solutions to problems facing humans. You can choose from multiple degrees and concentrations that span the breadth of Biology including Biomedical Science, Marine Biology, Molecular Biology, Ecology, Biodiversity, Mathematical Biology, and more.
Elementary Education
Elementary teachers have a unique opportunity to make a difference in their communities by laying the foundation for both future academic learning and for future participation in democratic society.

Applying to Western
Our application for Fall 2027 opens August 1. You can apply to Western using the WWU Application or the Common App. Both applications receive full consideration for admission and scholarships so that you can choose the best option for you. Please only submit one application.

We recognize that college is a big investment and at Western, there is a range of resources available to you and your family to help pay for college. Explore detailed cost estimates, a net price calculator, and budget worksheets to help navigate the cost of your education.
Don’t miss out on financial aid.
We encourage all students to apply for financial aid, even if they don’t think they will qualify. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) is the first step to accessing scholarships, grants, and other types of aid. Last year, WWU students received more than $8 million in scholarships.
