To be considered for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA), which becomes available each year on October 1*. Your FAFSA or WASFA must be submitted by April 1 (Western’s priority filing date) to be considered for the most favorable financial aid. Washington state residents ineligible to complete the FAFSA due to immigration status may apply for state financial aid by completing the WASFA.

If you earned any college credit after submitting your application for admission, you must request to have your official college transcripts, AP, IB and Cambridge exam results sent to the Office of Admissions as soon as they are available. If official final transcripts (with degree posted, if applicable) are not received by the deadline, a registration hold may be placed on your student account that prevents you from registering for courses in the future.

Prepare for Academic Success

Keep Up the Good Work

Your offer of admission is based on the information in your application for admission and is valid exclusively for the program, site and term for which you applied.

Enrollment is contingent upon your continued academic success, including completion of any conditions communicated to you by the Office of Admissions or your program staff, satisfactory completion of all attempted coursework not currently on file, and receipt of official final transcripts by established deadlines.

Admission to Western requires a minimum GPA of 2.00 during your final quarter prior to transferring. Some programs have additional requirements students must meet as a condition of their enrollment. Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in withdrawal of your offer of admission.
 

RN-to-BSN

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Provide all materials as requested by the RN-to-BSN program including background check, drug testing, and immunization documentation. You will receive instructions separately from the program on how to complete these requirements.

Business Administration

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 or a minimum GPA of the eight Foundation Courses: (ACCT 240, ACCT 245, DSCI 205, ECON 206, ECON 207, MATH 157, MGM T271, MIS 220).
  • Successful completion of one of the following:
    • A direct transfer associates (DTA-AA) degree from a Washington state community college
    • Western’s General University Requirements (GURs).
    • An appropriate bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
    • A direct transfer degree (DTA-AA) from a Washington state community college, completion of Western’s General University Requirements (GUR) or an appropriate bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Provide all materials as requested by the Business Administration program, including immunization documentation. You will receive instructions separately from the program on how to complete these requirements.

Cybersecurity

  • Earn an approved degree from a Washington state community college Please note that you must apply to graduate from your community college in order to have your degree posted.
  • Provide all materials as requested by the Cybersecurity program, including immunization documentation. You will receive instructions separately from the program on how to complete these requirements.

Communication Sciences and Disorders

  • Earn an appropriate bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Provide all materials as requested by the program, including immunization documentation. You will receive instructions separately from the program on how to complete these requirements.

Environmental Studies and Environmental Science

  • Successful completion of one of the following:
    • A direct transfer associates (DTA-AA) degree from a Washington state community college.
    • Western’s General University Requirements (GURs).
    • An appropriate bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Provide all materials as requested by the program, including immunization documentation. You will receive instructions separately from the program on how to complete these requirements.

Human Services

  • Successful completion of one of the following:
    • Completion of, or within 5 credits of, completing a direct transfer associates (DTA-AA) degree from a Washington state community college. Please note that you must apply to graduate from your community college in order to have your DTA-AA degree posted.
    • Completion, or within 5-10 credits of completion, of Western’s General University Requirements (GURs).
  • Final quarter grades must meet both Western’s and the program’s minimum GPA requirements.
  • Provide and satisfactorily complete all additional materials as requested by the Human Services program including criminal background check and immunization documentation.

Multidisciplinary Studies

  • Successful completion of one of the following:
    • A direct transfer associates (DTA-AA) degree from a Washington state community college.
    • Western’s General University Requirements (GURs).
    • An appropriate bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Planning Your Finances

Residency Info

Check your residency status. Your residency status is noted in your acceptance letter. Becoming a Washington resident after enrollment is extremely difficult, so be sure this classification is correct. If you have questions, contact the Office of Admissions to request a reclassification questionnaire. Residency information is available at admissions.wwu.edu/residency.

Tuition and Fees

As you review estimated annual expenses, it may be helpful to know that payment for tuition, fees, housing, and meals is charged quarterly and due at the beginning of each quarter. Monthly payment plans are available as well. Also, remember that costs for transportation, books, supplies, and personal expenses are flexible and can be reduced depending on your lifestyle choices.
