About this program

The Biology Distinguished Scholars Program is based on academic excellence and creating a diverse cohort of students representing a broad array of interests in Biology. Up to 24 incoming first-year students are selected each year to participate in program. The program creates a cohort of high achieving students in preparatory courses for Biology and related majors. 

Benefits

  • Access to the one-credit seminar Biology 125, which focuses on developing a cohort of high-achieving students and an introduction to biology-related majors and research opportunities.
  • Guaranteed enrollment in the following courses if you meet the math prerequisites (though students can enroll in these courses on a different schedule):
    • First Year (Fall 2022): CHEM 161
    • First Year (Winter 2023): CHEM 162
    • First Year (Spring 2023): CHEM 163 and BIOL 204
    • Second Year (Fall 2023): BIOL 205
    • Second Year (Winter 2024): BIOL 206

Criteria

  • First-Year Students
  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Academic interest in Biology or Pre-Medicine
