About the Computer Science Distinguished Scholars Program
Approximately 30 incoming first-year students are selected each year to participate in the Computer Science Distinguished Scholars Program based on academic excellence and interest in pursuing a major in Computer Science (CS) or Data Science (DS). This program gives students guaranteed registration to all of the introductory CS or DS courses they need so they can declare the CS or DS major in their second year.
Students will also be enrolled in a 3-credit, project-based computer science course, designed specifically for the program, during Fall Quarter 2026.
