Why I chose Western
I chose my majors with the goal of becoming an art teacher! I have loved getting to double major in art studio and art history at Western. It has been a great way to balance art making, as well as understanding the historical context of the contemporary art world. As an art teacher I hope to bring this same balance to my future students.
An experience or class at Western that made me go "Wow!"
Last spring I took a kayaking class at Western which was an amazing experience. Each class was spent paddling on Lake Whatcom. It was a great way to spend time outdoors, learn a new skill and get college credit all in one!
My advice for incoming or prospective students
My advice for incoming or prospective students is to reach out when you need help! Whether that be to your professors, peers, on campus counseling services or the student health center, all are helpful. The transition to college, while so exciting, can feel overwhelming at times and it is important to reach out when necessary.
