Urban Planning and Sustainable Development
I am a part of SINI-HHA, which is an inclusive dance club here at Western that performs a showcase every spring quarter, and travels around performing for other organizations! I'm also involved with the Relay for Life planning committee that helps fundraise money for the American Cancer Society. I also write spoken word and perform during poetry open mic nights at the Underground Coffeehouse, and spend some time outdoors doing photography.
I chose Western because it was close to home, but still far enough to give me more independence. I also love how integrated it was with nature, because I knew I wanted to study something along the lines of environment.
Don't be afraid to be yourself. College is a time for you to find who you are without being stuck in the mindset of high school limitations. Join clubs that you find interesting! Go out of your way to talk to people and make new friends. Western is a great place where you can find where you belong.
We are so close to different outdoor activities, so if I want to go on a hike, go paddle boarding, and eat dinner downtown, I'm able to do it all in one day! There are so many amazing parks nearby and I love going out and having picnics with my friends, or just studying on the grass. Everyone at Western is also so friendly and it's never hard to meet new people during your time here!
