Many of my life’s role models graduated from Western: the high school upperclassmen who were my whole world, the cousins whose lives were so rich and well-travelled, and the teachers whose lessons always made me smile. Whenever I’d ask them about their college experience, their eyes would sparkle, and they’d recount some of the best years of their lives as being spent in Bellingham. I figured, if Western went over so great for them, maybe it could for me, too.
