Biology—Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology
Why I chose Western.
I chose Western because of its community. I love walking around and always seeing a smiling face, whether you know the person or not.
My advice for incoming or prospective students.
I recommend joining any and every club you think you might be interested in! I joined the lacrosse team my freshman year and was a little skeptical at first. I had never played the sport, and it ended up being one of my favorite experiences so far at Western and I met so many amazing people!
Why I chose my major.
I did not know what I wanted to major in when first coming to Western, so I started by taking a bunch of random classes to see what I was passionate about! I took an intro Biology class and realized all of the different things I could do with a Biology major that I did not even know existed before. I love plants and marine life and want to do my own research after college; hopefully for NOAA!
What I'm passionate about and why.
I am passionate about doing what makes me happy. For me, I am happiest when I am outside exploring, researching and creating. I am so interested and amazed at how nature works and how beautiful it is, and this is what makes me love biology. I am also passionate about pizza.
What I like most about Western.
I love Western because of its beautiful location and all of the things it has to offer. Whether I want to go to the beach, go skiing, or just hang out in a coffee shop, I can find that all within a short distance of Western.
