What I like most about Bellingham

The nature. There are beaches, lakes, mountains, and woodlands all within reach and so much of it is open to the public. Larrabee State Park, Woodstock Farm, Teddy Bear Cove, Locust Beach, and Whatcom Falls are just a few of the dozens of local spots to spend a sunny day or catch a sunset.

An experience or class at Western that made me go "Wow!"

I did an archeology field study during the summer quarter of 2019, and every day there was a moment that made me go "Wow!". I've never explored the outdoors in that way, and I learned so many useful skills for the future, despite archeology not being my concentration. I had the opportunity to work out in the field around Bellingham, Mount Baker, and Mount Rainer, and I loved it.

What I ultimately hope my education helps me achieve

I hope to get my Bachelors degree so that I can join the Peace Corps for a couple of years. I would like to work to improve sustainability efforts in areas struggling with water/food shortages and pollution.
