I chose Western because it is in a beautiful part of the country. I can look out of the windows in the Viking Union and see the Bellingham Bay and the North Cascades in Canada. I also was really excited about the Speech Pathology Department at Western that allows undergrad students to observe clinicians starting their first year in the program.
I love that the majority of the places I go are within a 20-minute walk from my apartment, like school, the grocery store, fun restaurants, the farmer's market, running trails, the rock climbing wall, coffee shops, church, and the ocean!
I love the size of the school, it is big enough that there are plenty of opportunities for students, but it is also small enough that I see friendly, familiar faces while walking to classes.
