Transfer Apply

Applying online

Once you've started your online Transfer & Post-baccalaureate Application for Admission, you will be able to save your application and return to make changes at any time before final submission. When you are ready to submit your application, you will be asked to provide a credit or debit card, over a secure connection, to pay the $60 application fee. If you are requesting a fee waiver you will have the opportunity to do so at that time.

Application checklist

Please review the transfer application instructions to ensure your application is complete. A complete application includes the following:

  • Transfer and Postbaccalaureate Application submitted by the application deadline
  • $60 non-refundable application fee (fee waiver may be available)
  • Official transcripts from every college/university attended, even if you do not expect or desire to transfer credit (Note: students applying for summer or fall quarters must send an official transcript that includes grades from the previous fall quarter before their application can be reviewed)
  • An essay that helps the Admissions Committee understand your academic goals, related experiences and/or preparatory course work, and professional goals
  • Students who have completed fewer than 45 transferable quarter (30 semester) credits are also required to submit an official high school transcript and SAT or ACT test scores. (Exception: if you are 21 or older you will be exempt from the test score requirement and need only submit an official high school transcript.)

Note: if you are applying to an Outreach and Continuing Education program, visit the Outreach and Continuing Education site for details about your application.

What to expect after you apply

If you apply online, you can expect an email confirmation within an hour of successfully submitting the application and paying the application fee.

All applicants will receive an email within two weeks after we receive your application. This email will include your student number (Western ID) and instructions on how to check your application status online using the Application Status website. This website will list the items we've received, as well as any missing items needed to make your application complete. This website will not display your decision.

Students will be notified in writing of their admissions decision.  While some students are notified earlier, the majority of applicants are notified within six to eight weeks of the application deadline. We appreciate your patience in this process to ensure every on-time application is carefully reviewed. Students who need an earlier decision are welcome to request one in writing, though a favorable response cannot be guaranteed.
