Location Programs

Western offers flexible degree and certificate programs at a variety of locations throughout the Puget Sound as well as online.

Which application should I use?

Students applying to a Western-supported location program will indicate their intended program and location and complete program application requirements on the application for admission.

Contact your intended program to learn more about specific program offerings and requirements.

Returning Western Students

If you previously attended a Western-supported program in Bremerton, Distance/Online Learning (Human Services), Everett, Port Angeles, Poulsbo, or select programs on Bellingham’s main campus (Communication Sciences and Disorders, RN-to-BSN, or TESOL only) and want to return to your previous program, apply as a returning student. If you want to change your academic program, you need to apply as a new transfer or post-baccalaureate student.

Admission requirements

Each program will have specific admission requirements. In addition, Western’s general admission requirements apply to all supported programs. Minimum requirements for transfer admission include a 2.00 cumulative transferable GPA and a 2.00 in the quarters prior to application review and enrollment, though most programs have a higher minimum GPA requirement. Because the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available enrollment spaces, meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Application checklist

A complete application includes the following:

  • Transfer & Post-baccalaureate Application for Location Program Admission submitted by the application deadline
  • $70 non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from every college/university attended, even if you do not expect or desire to transfer credit. (Note: students applying for summer or fall quarters must send an official transcript that includes grades from the previous fall quarter before their application can be reviewed)
  • Most programs require a separate program application in addition to the university’s Transfer & Post-baccalaureate Application for Location Program Admission. Contact your intended program to learn more about program-specific requirements.

Applying online

Once you've started your online Transfer & Post-baccalaureate Application for Location Program Admission, you will be able to save your application and return to make changes at any time before final submission. When you are ready to submit your application, you will be asked to provide a credit or debit card, over a secure connection, to pay the $70 application fee. If you are requesting a fee waiver you will have the opportunity to do so at that time.

Please note: The majority of Western-supported program applicants apply for admission using our online application. However, if new programs are created after our online application has been published, applicants must apply by mail using the paper application.

What to expect after you apply

After you submit your application for admission online, you will receive an email confirming that we received it.

You will be prompted to pay the application fee (we cannot process your application without it) and provided with a link to check your application status using the Student Admission Portal. The portal provides a personalized checklist of items we've received, as well as any missing items needed to make your application complete.

Students will be notified in writing of their admissions decision.  While some students are notified earlier, the majority of applicants are notified within six to eight weeks of the application deadline. We appreciate your patience in this process to ensure every application is carefully reviewed.
